Building a stable peer roster that survives store churn
Store charts rotate quickly. A durable peer roster needs rules for replacements so quarter-to-quarter benchmarks remain comparable.

Category charts replace titles every few weeks. If your benchmark simply mirrors the current top chart, last quarter’s peers vanish and the comparison loses continuity.
Define a primary roster of eight to twelve titles that meet fixed criteria: same primary category, overlapping price band, overlapping markets, and a minimum history of twelve months. Keep a substitute list for titles that sunset or pivot genres.
Document replacements with a one-line reason and the date of change. Future readers can then interpret a spike as a roster edit rather than a market event.
Revisit the roster twice a year, not every sprint. Stability is the point of benchmarking; constant churn turns the report into a moving scoreboard.
